Samsung has recently unveiled its most anticipated product – the Galaxy Z TriFold and undoubtedly, many of you have been looking forward to it but here we have 6 reasons why you should pick the Huawei Mate X7 over the triple foldable.
Mate X7 is one of the best dual foldable creations in the Huawei family. It not only debuts with a new look but also a range of exciting features that users have always been searching for in the company’s folding phone handsets!
1. Design: Time-Space Portal
Huawei Mate X7 has got a star diamond cut on the back instead of the old and outdated circular or a square module. Interestingly, the OEM calls it Time-Space Portal.
It has super flat edges and a clean finish that just ends the dominance of glass-and-metal. The Chinese version has a special woven textile back, while the global one has standard colors without any thread-woven look.
One can use it one-handed without any discomfort or heaviness. Unlike the Galaxy Z TriFold, which follows the same rail-like camera bar on the back, the Mate X7 can give you a new feel with a different and more innovative appearance.

2. Display: Huawei X-True Screen
Most smartphone brands focus on the inner display when it comes to a foldable device. As a result, they lay down all important stuff on the outer screen, leaving mediocre components for the cover screen. But that’s not the case with Mate X7!
This time, the Mate foldable has a 120Hz refresh rate for both the display and the same visual quality – no compromise at all! The outer screen has a 3000-nit peak brightness, while its 2500 nits for the internal one. No flickers or light issues.
For comparison, the Galaxy Z TriFold has 2600 nits peak brightness for the cover screen and 1600 nits brightness for the inner display. Hence, the winner is quite clear here.
3. Strength and robustness? Yes, Galaxy Z TriFold has a special shock-absorbing layer. But to match this, Huawei has used a 3-layer composite Ultra-Tough Structure, which includes the following components:
- Non-Newtonian Fluid Protective Layer
- UTG Impact-Resistant Layer
- Carbon Fiber Support Layer

These additions increase the drop resistance for the foldable phone by 20%, impact resistance by 20%, and 100% of the bend resistance. The outer screen has second-generation crystal armour glass (harder than Gorilla Glass).
Hinge: Huawei has used an all-new advanced precision hinge for the Mate X7, which offers larger screen space with zero pressure between the hinge and display.
Besides, the hinge technology uses 5 Arc-shaped arms with stable support that ensures the reliability of the device, no matter how many times you fold or unfold it. It has used materials like ultra-strong carbon fiber, ultra-high strength steel (2350MPa yield strength), and Aerospace-grade polymer material (100% tensile resistance).

4. Camera: Photography like no other foldable!
In case you feel the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold can offer better snaps because it has a 200MP sensor, then you can think twice, as the Mate X7 is here with flagship camera specs. Without cutting any other important feature, the has increased the light intake by 127% for the foldable phone.
The device has a 50MP main sensor that delivers sharper daylight shots, a 50MP telephoto with 3.5x zooming capacity, a 40MP ultrawide snapper, and a second-gen multispectral that takes color processing to new heights this time.
Huawei has also used the second-gen LOFIC technology for video tasks. It can capture multiple exposures per frame. One will get the best of this camera segment.
5. Battery: No difference!
Unlike many other phones, Huawei has not cut the battery capacity this time. Mate X7 packs a 5600mAh cell with 66W wired and 50W wireless super-fast charging. It uses a silicon-carbon anode over the old lithium-ion.
The company has improved its heat management by 18% to ensure no lags in performance. The battery is the same as the Galaxy Z TriFold, but the charging goes from 45W wired to 15W wireless charging range.
6. Comfort at its peak
Bigger display but a pocket-sized model with no sharp corners, and of course, far better performance. Kirin 9030 Pro claims to deliver a notable performance boost this time with a 42% improvement over the previous-gen foldable.
These are the 6 reasons why you can rely on the Huawei Mate X7 foldable rather than going for Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone.
