Huawei has locked the Mate 80 Pro Max Fan Edition for the March 23 launch event, and here’s everything that tells us where this new creation is officially taking the spotlight. So let’s dig deeper into the details about this ultimate FAN smartphone.
Since the official teaser of the Mate 80 series last year, Huawei fans were excited to witness the “rumored” cooling fan technology. However, things didn’t go as expected.
While the lineup was in rumors to launch with five models, including a fan edition, the company ended these talks with only four variants. This move suggested that Huawei won’t unveil a cooling fan phone anytime soon.
Although new leaks and inputs continue to hint that the Chinese firm has a mysterious handset in the pipeline. And here we are with everything that has leaked about the all-new Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max Fan Edition in the past few days.
Expected Specs and Features
Starting with the design, the new Fan Edition looks similar to the original Mate 80 Pro Max. However, the difference resides in the camera module. Looking closely at the images, you will see ventilation openings used for an active cooling fan.

These are basically air inlets and outlets that will help in eliminating heat generated inside the phone. Besides, the camera bump appears slightly wider to ensure an efficient airflow integration.
A cooling fan behind the camera setup hints at two aspects. Firstly, it will enhance the Kirin 9030 Pro performance despite constant high workload and intense activities.
On the other hand, the integration of a fan behind the camera can keep the imaging sensors cool, enabling longer video shoots without any kind of interruption.
Inputs reveal that the advanced active cooling fan mechanism supports a 18000 rpm micromagnetic wind turbine that uses magnetic fields to suspend the fan rotor. This prevents friction to offer efficient cooling for high performance.
Notably, these processes are said to overclock the phone’s chip core to 3.0GHz, making it run at a faster speed while playing games, video editing, or multitasking.
The next difference is the number of camera sensors. Unlike the Pro Max main version that has four lenses, the new model has sacrificed a super telephoto camera with 6.2x zooming capability.
Other specs like the display and battery, are probably the same as the Pro Max original model. Although these details will become certain on March 23. Stay tuned.
