Huawei has announced that David Wang (AKA Wang Tao) will be the next rotating and acting chairman of Huawei, starting April 1, 2026. His term will continue through the next two quarters, ending on September 30, 2026. During this tenure as acting chairman, he will chair the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee.
Looking at his past, Wang has completed a master’s degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University. He joined Huawei in 1997 and served as:
- President of Technical Sales of the European Area
- Managing Director of Huawei Italy and Switzerland
- President of the Network Product Line,
- President of ICT Strategy & Marketing
- President of ICT Product & Solutions
- Chairman of the Investment Review Board
- Chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Managing Board

For now, Wang holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Board and Rotating Chairman of the company. Wang will succeed Huawei’s Meng Wanzhou (Sabrina Meng), Deputy Chairwoman and Rotating Chairwoman, CFO. The majority of people know her as the heir of Huawei.
Right before assigning Wang as the next rotating chair, Huawei published its 2025 annual report, which showed the firm’s strong performance.
Huawei posted 880,941 million yuan in revenue, up from 862,072 million yuan in 2024. Its operating profit increased from 79,361 million yuan to 96,937 million yuan. Furthermore, its net profit jumped from 62,572 million yuan to 68,036 million yuan.
“In 2025, Huawei’s overall operations remained stable. We thank our customers for their trust, our consumers for their choice, our global suppliers, partners, and developers for their collaboration, every employee for their hard work, and every family member for their support,” said Meng Wanzhou.
Huawei announced that the focus will remain on increasing the research and development of new technologies such as networking, computing, cloud, terminals, smart driving, artificial intelligence (AI), and AI models for enterprise customers. It is also breaking through customer-based products such as Ascend, Kunpeng, and HarmonyOS.
