Huawei and Apple drive smartphone sales growth in China: IDC


Huawei and Apple are the two major brands in China that have elevated the smartphone sales market in Q1 2026. IDC has now released its analysis, showing the status of the Chinese phone segment in the first quarter of this year.

According to the details, Huawei has ranked first wth the highest market share and smartphone sales in China while Apple has followed its top Chinese rival closely.

The Mate phone maker has shipped 13.7 million smartphone units in the home ground and owns 19.8% market share. The shipment is up by nearly 1 million units.

On the other hand, Huawei has scored 8.1% year-over-year progress. The Chinese tech giant has made significant improvements since the release of the Mate 80 smartphones in the market, which has led to booming sales and a sharp jump in revenue.

Apple has sold 13.1 million units with a market share of 18.9%. Among all brands, the iPhone maker has achieved 33.3% in annual growth. That says both Huawei and Apple are currently driving the smartphone sales for Q1 2026 in China.

IDC reports that the top two phone brands are driving strong sales in the Chinese market. OPPO has sold 11 million units in China and owns 15.9% market share. Although the company is seeing a decline of 8.5% in its overall annual growth.

Vivo appeared in the fourth spot with 10.5 million smartphones and 15.2% market share. It is up with 1.1% in the yearly progress. The fifth rank belongs to Honor with 8.9 million unit shipments and 12.8% market share. The company has slipped by 2.0% in the annual growth.
