Honor Magic 9 series is in the development mode and could launch in October this year – just like its predecessor, though it may completely switch to a flat screen panel instead of a curved display. In addition, the lineup will introduce many new WOW factors this time.
DirectorShiGuan shared a huge post, highlighting the main specs of the Honor Magic 9 series. Starting with the launch timeline, the flagship may debut in October – the same unveiling month as the Magic 8 series smartphones.
Coming to the specs, the tipster said that the Honor Magic 9 series will go full “flat screen” this time. If true, the flagship will be the first smartphone lineup in the Honor family to completely adopt straight display panels.
For comparison, the Magic 8 vanilla version has a flat screen, but the Magic 8 Pro features a quad-curved panel that shows curves elegantly on all four sides and offers a premium feel + borderless experience.
A major reason behind this switch is prioritizing durability, better usability, as well as lowering production costs over the aesthetic novelty of curved displays. Flat screens are easier to apply and bring a consistent + stable experience in every aspect.
The other highlight of this flagship series will be the ARRI imaging functions. After the ROBOT PHONE, the Magic 9 models will be the second work of ARRI in the mobile department. Hence, the devices will bring improved video recording and photography.
Magic 9 series may also hold surprises in terms of design. As per the tipster, the company will enhance the overall look of the new phones. But it’s still unclear if the massive circular camera module on the back will be persistent or if the OEM will change it this time around.
