Honor’s next ultra-slim Magic phone may not be named ‘Air’

News regarding Honor states that the company will continue to launch its ultra-slim Magic phone this year, but there’s a catch. Perhaps the company might not add the suffix “Air” to its slimmest flagship. A new leak has recently shed light on this matter.

SmartPikachu said that the next-gen Honor Magic ultra-slim phone has entered the “development phase”. The company will continue to upgrade its thin phone lineup via a small + enhanced display technology.

However, the new device may not be called “Air” anymore. If true, it would be a significant change as the Chinese tech giant launched its first-gen slim smartphone using the same moniker.

Magic 8 Pro Air debuted at the outset of this year. Honor unveiled the device alongside the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Edition. The Air phone launched as a rival to Apple’s slimmest handset – iPhone Air, claiming to be a PRO in every aspect.

The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air is an ultra-thin (6.1mm body), lightweight (155 grams), compact flagship featuring a 6.3-inch screen and a 5500mAh battery – bigger than the iPhone Air model.

Just like Apple’s creation, the Magic 8 Pro Air followed a sleek, long camera bar on the back with a giant pill-like cutout and a lens ring. It is currently available only in China, and there is no report that it will move outside its home turf.

The tipster didn’t highlight what new changes the new Magic ultra-slim smartphone can bring to the surface. Some dynamic shifts in terms of dimensions and AI capabilities could be a part of the upcoming handset. Though for now, relevant details are under wraps.
