Xiaomi 18 Pro Max to feature new-gen LOFIC-powered 200MP camera

Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is tipped to launch this year with a new generation LOFIC 200MP camera technology. While the company is busy launching new top-tier models in China and globally, it is also focusing on the upcoming flagship smartphone lineup.

Weibo tipster DigitalChatStation noted that Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, powered by a 2nm chip, will likely use a new-gen LOFIC tech-based 200MP 1/1.28-inch camera lens.

The periscope zoom sensor for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max engineering model is a 200MP 1/1.56-inch sensor with a 3x focal zoom length and an F/2.4 aperture. But since these imaging lenses are being tested at present, the OEM may alter them accordingly.

Details reveal that the new zoom camera can support close-up telephoto and macro photography. Meanwhile, the company has revamped the camera lens assembly for its upcoming flagship smartphones this time to elevate the photography experience.

LOFIC, or Lateral OverFlow Integration Capacitor is an old imaging tech that goes through enhancements every year. As a result, it boosts dynamic range by helping the sensor handle stronger light without easily overexposing bright areas.

With a new-generation imaging tech, Xiaomi is planning to further improve its camera solutions for the 2026 flagship lineup. Thus, the combination of a 200MP sensor with the advanced LOFIC tech solution can lead to a stronger highlight controller, cleaner shadows, and more realistic contrast even in dim lighting.
