Huawei MatePad Mini 2 is expected to launch in the market with an ultra-narrow bezel OLED screen, and a new rumor suggests that this display will come with a key technology upgrade. Perhaps the company is planning to further enhance the viewing experience of its compact tablet series for users.
The company has been using subtle and effective screen tech solutions for its tablets. But after the MatePad Pro Max, Huawei seems to have a better display upgrade for the Mini 2 tablet.
Per a new leak, Huawei could use a four-stack display for the MatePad Mini 2 tablet. Also known as tandem OLED, this screen tech is a highly advanced, premium architecture that vertically arranges four different light-emitting layers (red, green, blue) on top of each other.
Unlike the standard OLED technology that uses color filters to alter a single light source, a quadruple narrow OLED places four layers of organic compounds in a single diode structure.
As a result, it brings two benefits:
- Maximum brightness: The display achieves significantly higher peak brightness with four layers, making it ideal for HDR content without leading to the burn-in effect.
- Longer lifespan: Since the tech uses four layers, the electrical load gets distributed uniformly and reduces the stress on individual diodes. Thus, increasing the lifespan of the device.

For comparison, the Huawei MatePad Mini does not have a Tandem OLED. It sports an 8.8-inch flexible single-layer OLED coupled with PaperMatte technology.
However, the company may bring a prominent shift in the display segment with the MatePad Mini 2. Huawei hasn’t confirmed any details on this topic or about the second-generation compact tablet yet. Though we may grab more information about the device in the coming days. Stay tuned.
