Huawei HarmonyOS 7 will debut later this week at the HDC 2026 event, but it looks like some users are already receiving a significant beta version of this new software iteration. A tipster says a few phones are getting the upcoming build in advance.
Weibo leaker @YeeYeePlaysDigital revealed that Huawei is silently sending HarmonyOS 7 “confidential” beta to some users. The tipster didn’t mention, though, what this version is bringing to the device.
A confidential software beta version is often referred to as an early or near-final release build shared exclusively with a select group of testers before the official launch.
Being an unreleased “software product”, the company asks selective testers to keep the version and its features secret. It usually invites a limited number of early adopters for this test. The software remains functional but may have bugs and issues.
This alleged “confidential HarmonyOS 7 beta” is likely open for developers to safely test the capabilities and check for security problems in the new software version.

The software team then collects feedback and suggestions before announcing the product, here – HarmonyOS 7, and pushes a more stable form of the latest iteration.
Adding more, the tipster said that Huawei will begin the new Developer Beta Program right after unveiling HarmonyOS 7 at the HDC event. The stable build of the new software system will debut with the new-gen flagship phones – Mate 90 series.
