Honor today announced a new feature that will roll out to MagicOS phones this month – virtual permissions. The addition is part of the user’s privacy and ensures that applications may not trouble them by frequently asking for certain permissions.
The Product Maintenance and Upgrade Specialist, Honor Xiao Fangge, has shared a video of the new feature – Virtual Permissions for MagicOS phones.
Inputs reveal that the feature, when enabled, prevents applications from accessing sensitive information, such as messages, call logs, and calendar app data.
App permissions allow an application to access specific data or control a few features like camera, microphone, and location on your device accordingly. While the app needs these permissions to function effectively, it could lead to data leaks.
Xiao Fangge says that everyone has probably encountered the frustrating situation of granting permissions to use some specific apps. Although the new feature will eliminate this condition, providing a seamless and efficient user experience.
He says:
“Now that virtual permissions are enabled, when an application attempts to read sensitive information such as call logs, the system will provide it with blank data, effectively protecting everyone’s data privacy!

To access this feature, Honor phone users can head to the Settings app > Privacy & Security, and then Virtual Permissions. You can turn on the toggle for the particular app for which you don’t want to read your sensitive information.
Virtual Permissions feature has begun rolling out with the latest MagicOS 10.0.0.160 version and will soon reach all the eligible Honor phones in the coming weeks.
