Huawei to cover 200 types of chips, 1200 devices with a new strategy

Huawei today announced a significant strategy – the Hongtu Plan which will cover 200 types of chips, 1200 types of devices, and more than 20 industries across the country. With this plan, the firm aims to expand the HarmonyOS ecosystem to a greater extent.

HDC 2026 event is going on, and the first day unveiled some crucial items on the stage – HarmonyOS 7.0, achievements in the software field, and future goals.

The company also launched a Huawei “Hongtu Strategy” to elevate the large-scale development of the open-source HarmonyOS ecosystem by covering 20+ industries, 200 types of chips, and 1200 types of devices.

After pushing the in-house components for its devices, the Chinese OEM is now targeting to expand its open-source HarmonyOS ecosystem on an even larger scale.

This dream will turn into reality when Huawei switches its role from tech contributor to global enabler. For doing so, the firm will include many industries and tech solutions in its ecosystem, bringing better products for consumers.

In addition, the company is planning to enter comprehensive empowerment from single-technology support. It will focus on effective development, certification assistance, and commercial boost. Richard Yu, Huawei Device Business Chairman, said:

“Open-source HarmonyOS has become the digital foundation for thousands of industries, with over 13000 code contributors, over 140 million lines of code, over 3200 ecosystem partners, and over 1.3 billion ecosystem devices.”
