Huawei Mate 90 is no longer just a new flagship for 2026, but it has become a crucial focal point for the industry due to two reasons – the new chipset and its rumored launch timeline that hints at a showdown with this year’s Apple iPhone series.
A new report says that Huawei is ramping up the launch preparations for the Mate 90 series against the 2026 Apple iPhone models. The company has said to unveil the top-tier phone lineup with a powerful Kirin chip this fall.
Since the official announcement of the 2026 Kirin chip at the IEEE ISCAS, industry insiders, analysts, and semiconductor firms are closely watching every move taken towards the Mate 90 series.
Following the chipmaking struggles for the past six years, Huawei is ready to take a major step this year. The company announced that the 2026 Kirin chipset will use the LogicFolding technology, bringing 3nm process-level perks in performance.
LogicFolding design concept will come into action for the first time with the Mate 90’s Kirin mobile processors. Based on the Tau Scaling Law, the new chipmaking process vertically stacks logic circuits to improve performance without smaller transistors.
Another reason to closely watch the Mate 90 series is the clash in the launch timing. Per the new report, Huawei has intentionally decided to shift its upcoming flagship’s unveiling closer to the iPhone release window instead of November 2026.
It appears to be a sign of Huawei’s growing confidence in its technological competitiveness. Notably, it’s not the first time that the company is taking such a move.
In the past two years, the company has unveiled many products alongside iPhone handsets, dimming Apple’s new creations’ glow in China and retaining its lead. This time, though, Huawei is bringing its main protagonist to the stage – Mate 90.
What new turns this showdown will bring to the market would be worth looking at!
