Honor X80 Pro Max brings an exciting range of features that are enough to bind your attention, and one of these is the AI-powered Smart Grip feature. Just like Huawei, the Magic phone maker has introduced a special grip tool to its first PRO MAX model.
Last year, Huawei introduced a smart grip detection feature with the Mate 80 flagship to simplify call management. And looks like Honor has also brought in a similar feature with the X80 Pro Max smartphone.
X80 Pro Max is the first Honor device to support an AI Smart Grip feature. As the name suggests, the new capability uses AI to detect your hand and thumb’s position.
After detection, the feature intelligently brings the call buttons like hang and answer ones near your thumb so you can easily opt for the action without moving your hand.

It smartly recognizes left and right hands, and the answer button adapts to the height of your fingers and appears beside your hand. Thus, allowing you to answer calls instantly with one hand, without any type of pressure.
The best part is that Honor Smart Grip feature not only identifies the left and right hands, but also the height of the thumb. It will display the call answer buttons nearby on the side to improve the efficiency of one-handed mode.
How to access Honor Smart Grip?
According to the official information, compatible phones will get the “AI at your fingertips toggle” in Settings. Turn it on and then go to the Phones app > Settings > After unlocking call notifications, set the notification method to Banner to experience this feature.
The company didn’t disclose whether it will push this feature to other phones or keep it exclusive to the Honor X80 Pro Max. Although we may get the details in the time ahead.
