HarmonyOS 7 progressing rapidly to fully support Mate 90 chips


Huawei Mate 90 series and HarmonyOS 7 development is picking up speed and this time, the company is not just simply upgrading the software with a new version, but also planning to make it fully compatible with the Kirin 2026 chips.

FixedFocus on Weibo reported that HarmonyOS 7 is progressing rapidly to support Mate 90 chips efficiently. The upcoming software upgrade will be more than just a package of new features and enhancements.

The company used to introduce a new software version at its annual HDC event and rolls it out completely with the new-generation Mate smartphones every year.

Since Huawei is unable to access advanced chipmaking tools to develop its in-house mobile SoCs, it uses the power of both hardware and software for improved performance.

Although this year, the OEM seems to have different plans. It will use the Tau Scaling Law to develop HarmonyOS 7 so it can efficiently align with Kirin 2026 mobile chips.

Mate 90 series Kirin chips will adopt new solutions – LogicFolding design concept and Tau Scaling Law. Together, these technologies will make the upcoming processors equivalent to a 3nm process node, ramping up the overall performance.

And HarmonyOS 7, compatible with the Tau Scaling Law, will further boost the chipsets’ efficiency in many aspects. It would be a great combination for the Mate 90 series smartphones, stepping into the market as the most powerful Mate models.

Huawei has recently detailed how the LogicFolding and hybrid bonding process will help to increase Kirin 2025 chip performance over the previous versions. In addition, the company unveiled some more secrets of its upcoming mobile processors in the Tau Law Paper V2.

Mate 90 series and HarmonyOS 7 stable version will debut this fall. In the meantime, we may hear more interesting revelations on this topic.
