Honor Magic 9 series may show up in the market this October, and just like the digital N models – Honor 600, the flagship lineup may also debut with an AI-powered magnetic back screen. Yes, the company is reportedly testing a new cover display.
According to DigitalChatStation, Honor is testing an AI-powered magnetic back screen technology for the Magic 9 series. The new addition will enable users to opt for certain operations without unlocking the main screen.
Detachable back screens are becoming a new trend in the market. Xiaomi was the first brand to introduce the “Magic Back Display” concept with the Xiaomi 17 Pro models.
While a cover screen has been part of only foldable handsets, Xiaomi unveiled its first Pro Max devices with a non-detachable rear display with many amazing capabilities.
But instead of copying the same format, brands like Honor and Vivo adopted a new strategy – an AI magnetic back screen. Honor launched this creation with the Honor 600 series in May this year, allowing users to set wallpapers and do a lot more!

Unlike a square format, the new detachable back screen appeared in a cute, circular shape. It looks quite similar to Apple’s AirTag. The front part also has pretty logos.

In the latest edition, Honor is working with a similar AI magnetic back screen for the Magic 9 series smartphones. The tipster says that this display will act as a prompt screen primarily for AI photo-editing tools, new mini-games, and certain functions.
Since Honor has used this technology for its N series devices, there is a high chance that it may bring the back display to the Magic 9 smartphones, mainly for the Pro model. More details on this matter will become clear as we inch closer to the flagship’s launch.
