Huawei is planning to increase its smartphone shipments by 20% this year, according to a new report. While several brands are reducing their device production due to stringent memory problems, the Chinese tech giant looks for higher achievements.
Nikkei Asia reported that Huawei aims to boost its smartphone shipments by more than 20% in 2026. Seeing profits in the market for the first and second quarters, the company is now aiming for bigger profits in the remaining year.
Supply chain sources mentioned that the Chinese OEM plans to sell over 60 million smartphones in 2026. The company is ramping up its chip and phone production to attain more growth in the market.
Last year, supply chain sources revealed that Huawei would ship fewer than 50 million smartphone units in 2025. But seeing the demand for Mate 80 and other models, the company has seemingly increased the expectation by 10 million for 2026.
That’s big news amid the rising cost of components and memory chips in the market, as many tech vendors lowered their production figures due to these crises.
News regarding Android brands stated that Honor, OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi have reduced their smartphone shipments for 2026 by 15 to 30%. Memory shortage and high component price pressure are constantly holding brands back from growth.
But the case is different for Huawei as it is making efforts to bring breakthroughs in its smartphone and chipset segments regardless of unfavorable conditions.
Based on the monthly sales of Huawei in China since January 2026, one of the chip suppliers mentioned:
“Huawei is the only customer maintaining order expectations and whose growth momentum continues”
Many research companies also predicted that brands like Huawei and Apple may only witness growth this year. Others could dip down in the market due to the persistent pressure of the rising component and memory chip costs.
