Huawei Nova 15 series launch date mystery remains unclear but before this puzzle is solved, a new leak is unraveling the lineup’s chip secret. The new-gen Nova series may bring three models on board, two of which will use the Kirin 8 series chipset.
Weibo tipster @SmartPikachu revealed that Huawei has registered the 5G Kirin 8020 chip, probably for the standard and Nova 15 Pro smartphones.
Nova 14 Ultra was the first device to feature the Kirin 8020 5G chip. It has a 1+3+4 CPU architecture with the highest frequency of 2.285GHz. The CPU configuration is:
- 1+3+4 CPU architecture
- 1 super core @ 2.285GHz
- 3 medium cores @ 2.05GHz
- 4 small cores @ 1.3GHz

The leaker mentioned the Kirin 9 series in the leak as well. Although the existence of the Ultra variant is still in doubt. If it debuts, it will likely show up with a Kirin 9 series processor, giving a significant boost to performance.
Apart from performance, the Nova 15 series is expected to primarily focus on the imaging part. Previous inputs suggest that the company is exploring new camera sensors for its next-generation Nova smartphones.
