Android 17 is in the works and so is the Xiaomi HyperOS 4.0, and it looks like this software iteration will bring a major boost in the gaming aspect for Xiaomi devices. Here’s a new piece of information that delivers clarity on this matter.
Google has started taking a dig into the Android 17 operating system. It’ll, of course, pack noteworthy changes to the new OS, with probably a bit more attention on the gaming segment this time.
XiaomiTime noted that Google will improve the system-level updates and game controller support with Android 17. It will likely add a gamepad button or may be a fully virtual gamepad to enhance the playing time for smartphone users.
Unlike the previous Android versions that relied on preset buttons for Xbox controllers, the 17th build will enable users to customize or remap buttons in the system, as well as reduce the dependence on game-specific settings.
That gets clear with the latest Android Canary build that shows strings like: android.permission.CONTROLLER_REMAPPING controlled by the flag com.android.hardware.input.controller_remapping.
Note that in only applies to system-level apps signed with the platform key for a consistent and stable remapping without external equipment or ADB usage.
Perhaps HyperOS 4 (Android 17) will also bring the same gaming features to Xiaomi devices in the time ahead to boost the overall experience for users.
Hence, if you are someone who loves playing games with controllers, then Android 17-based HyperOS 4.0 could be the perfect upgrade for you.
