Alleged Xiaomi 17 Air prototype resembles Honor 500 design

Xiaomi 17 Air has started taking shape on the internet via leaks, and the latest one shows an alleged prototype of the device, which resembles the Honor 500-like design. Yes, the same horizontal camera bar is once again peeking from the doors!

A Weibo tipster has recently shared an alleged Xiaomi 17 Air engineering prototype, revealing the back and side design of Xiaomi’s first-ever Airy smartphone.

Looking into this prototype, the back looks identical to the Honor 500 phones. It has the same horizontal straight bar for the camera bump with two thick buttons.

These buttons house imaging sensors and seem to support a dual-camera structure for the device. The two lenses appear on the left side of the bar, while a tiny sensor shows up on the right side. For now, the functions of this sensor are uncertain.

A “MASTER” branding follows at the bottom. The back panel seems to have an off-white shade with a golden-metallic camera module look. The sides of the phone seemingly have a metal frame, making it super slim and sleek in the hands.

From the sides, the device looks super thin and flat. Perhaps it could be slimmer and lighter than many of the Airy smartphones in the market, including the upcoming Honor Magic 8 Pro Air!

Xiaomi hasn’t detailed its plan for its first-ever Air smartphone yet. When asked about the new “Air” trend in the consumer market, the company replied that it’s a good approach but accompanies a lot of disadvantages to the table.

Seeing the new prototype, it seems Xiaomi has solved the bottlenecks of the Air smartphones. Though an official confirmation awaits on this topic.
