Counterpoint recently released its report on Q4 2025 and 2026 Chinese smartphone sales, where Huawei has shown a strong rebound driven by its latest flagship – the Mate 80 series. And this new progress hints at a big win in the future!
Despite a knockout in the Q4 2025 Chinese smartphone sales by Apple’s iPhone 17, Huawei successfully made its way back to the pinnacle by the end of last year.
It has reclaimed the first position in China’s premium phone market with a huge market share, pushing Apple to the second position. The report shows that Huawei saw an annual growth rate of 1.7% year-over-year in 2025.
On the other hand, the OEM holds 16.9% of the market share. For a clear comparison, Huawei accounted for 16.5% YoY market share in 2024. Even though the progress seems less, it’s a really significant achievement for the tech giant.
Following the new success, Counterpoint said:
“Huawei ranked first in the Chinese market for the full year, despite experiencing a YoY decline in the second half of the year. […] The delayed launch of the Huawei Mate 80 series relative to competing models weighed on its Q4 performance. However, we observed a strong rebound at the start of 2026, supported by a new round of subsidies.”
Well, this new milestone in the Huawei smartphone sales at the start of 2026 hints at a big victory for the future. The company has started improving its 5G chips and adding more cutting-edge software capabilities to its devices.
Mate 80 is the perfect fusion of strong tech features + smart AI tools. No doubt, the company’s constant efforts will help it to overcome the global smartphone market challenges in the time ahead.
