After flagship chipsets like the Kirin 9030 series, Huawei is now up with the Kirin 8030 and its specs have surfaced online showing premium-level core configurations. The new processor is seemingly bringing a significant performance boost on board.
Tipster SuperDimensional has shared “expected specs” of the new Huawei Kirin 8030. The respective chip is rumored to debut with the standard Nova 16 phone.
Looking at the specs, the Kirin 8030 chip may continue to adopt Huawei’s custom CPU architecture. It could use one super-large Taishan core at 3.0GHz, three medium cores at 2.6GHz, and four small cores at 2GHz.
CPU Configuration
- 1 x Taishan super-large core @2.8 – 3.0GHz
- 3 x Taishan medium cores @2.4 – 2.6GHz
- 4 x Taishan small cores @1.8 – 2.0GHz
For comparison, the Kirin 8020 5G processor also uses a similar 1+3+4 CPU configuration with different cores. It has 1 super large core clocked at @2.28GHz, three medium cores with a frequency of 2.05GHz, and four small cores @1.3GHz.

Notably, the Huawei Kirin 8030 processor will rely on the N+2 enhanced process technology, supporting better FinFET process (a 3D transistor to increase performance).
FinFET (Fin Field-Effect Transistor) uses a fin-like silicon structure that allows the gate to wrap around the channel on three sides. As a result, this tiny component in the chip offers extreme electrical control and faster + more energy efficiency.
Moving ahead, the tipster said the Kirin 8030 will show Snapdragon 888-like performance in the single-core test, while it will be stronger than the specific foreign chip in the multi-core performance.
On the other hand, Huawei will probably continue to use the same GPU Maleoon architecture with an expected frame rate of 100-120fps range. It may align with the Snapdragon 888 or Dimensity 8100 GPU performance.
Kirin 8030 5G is further expected to use an upgraded Leonardo da Vinci NPU architecture this time to deliver a top-level of AI computing power. It will likely exceed the Snapdragon 888 processor in this aspect and may match with Snapdrahhon 8 Gen 2.
Besides, the chip may equip an enhanced 5G baseband with self-made Barong technology that supports around sub-6GHz and millimeter waves.
Note that the new chip specs have surfaced way before the Nova 16 series launch. Hence, let’s take these details with a grain of salt at present and wait for the official words.
