Huawei will seemingly launch a new-gen Mate Air smartphone later this year with bigger surprises, particularly in terms of the eSIM technology. The company’s first Air model was a hit, and maybe that’s why it is ready for the next iteration!
The information is coming from the courtesy of SmartPikachu. The leaker said that Huawei will launch a new Mate Air smartphone this year, and it will be “Far Ahead”.
When netizens asked if the upcoming Huawei Mate Air phone will again skip the eSIM technology, the tipster responded that the company has big surprises this time.
Mate 70 Air has disappointed users only in one segment – eSIM. While the device was in rumors to go completely eSIM, it debuted with a physical SIM card slot.
Perhaps Huawei may go fully eSIM with the Mate 80 Air phone coming later this year. The tipster didn’t highlight other details about the new Air device. But based on the leak, it will likely bring major changes regarding internal parameters.

Air device trend began in 2025 when Apple introduced the first slimmest handset – iPhone Air. It debuted with a thin horizontal camera bar on the back and a 5.6mm thin design coupled with 165 grams of weight (only).
Despite a new approach, Apple faced disappointment with the iPhone Air in the market. It proved a flop, making other brands delay their first Airy smartphone.

Interestingly, the device launched on November 6 and went on official sale on the 11th and sold 120,000 units in just 12 days, which is really a big win.
