Huawei and Apple have been betting big on wearables but it seems a new competitor is ready to join the smartwatch battle and surprise everyone with its creation – Meta. The company will unveil its wrist device after four years of stalling.
Codenamed Malibu 2, Meta is readying its first smartwatch against the top rivals like Apple and Huawei. The company is also preparing several health features and smarter AI capabilities to elevate its first-ever smart wearable’s experience.
Meta will launch its smartwatch later this year. It will introduce it along with the Display smart glasses. While other details of this wearable are under wraps at the moment, its launch news has sparked debate among Apple and Huawei fans.
Starting with Apple, the iPhone maker is reportedly working on various AI devices at the moment. One of them is a smarter glasses that could launch in early 2027.
But there is no news regarding the upcoming smartwatch from Apple. Of course, it might be in the pipeline for 2026, and we may hear about it later this year.
On the flip side, Huawei is readying dynamic smartwatch models. One of them will debut on February 26 at the first Global Innovative Product Launch Event of 2026.
Moreover, the company would have more excellent wearable iterations for 2026 with greater battery life, brilliant health features, and top-grade specifications. It is also working on special capabilities, which are as follows:
- Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 gets a new heart failure risk assessment feature
- Smartwatches will soon detect early signs of diabetes: Huawei
Overall, we can see iconic smartwatches this year, and Meta’s entry to this segment will surely intensify the competition among brands to deliver the best products, powered by new AI and health functionalities.
