There is good news for the MatePad Edge 2-in-1 tablet users as Huawei has launched the first HarmonyOS 6.0 Beta for it. The update is on its way to all eligible users, though you have to register for the testing version and receive confirmation.
According to the information, the HarmonyOS 6.0 first beta program is now live for Huawei MatePad Edge tablets. It is a closed testing pool, and users can register for this activity through the My Huawei app and upgrade after approval.
The second method to install the new beta version is heading towards the Settings app > Software Updates > Upgrade Beta. Now tap on the Register for Beta option to sign up.
Most probably, the device will get HarmonyOS 6.0.0.328 as the first beta version. It is said to be a preview of the HarmonyOS 6.1 build with several enhancements.
MatePad Edge users will observe improvements in the device’s system, in the UI segment, optimized communication, smarter notification tools, new customizations for the lock screen, app icons, and more.
Huawei may also introduce a special client-side model supporting some new features, like notification summary. It will add more features to this model in the future.
It will also enhance the camera and gallery features alongside the gaming experience. The highlight can be the “Security and Privacy” segment with the following changes:

Security and Privacy Features
- Upgraded the Privacy protection features. Apps with app lock can be set to only show notifications to the device owner (other apps are unaffected).
- Optimized the password vault page, allowing users to view previously connected Wi-Fi passwords (with the option to add notes), and also supports adding access keys, bank cards, etc., while also allowing the creation of groups.
- Biometric recognition optimizations improve device unlocking speed.
- The new smart anti-fraud feature supports communication protection, fraud tool protection, and fraud-related scenario protection, and provides a visualized data display.
- It supports family-based fraud prevention, allowing users to add family members to protect. If the other family member encounters a fraud risk, the system will send a notification simultaneously and allow for remote control to block the risk.
- Once app lock is enabled, individual apps can independently disable app card protection, preventing the inability to view card content when app lock is enabled.
