After Huawei, Honor reportedly working on ‘Pro Max’ smartphone

Honor is secretly working on a new smartphone with the “Pro Max” name to add a premium model to its family. Following Xiaomi and Huawei, the Magic handset maker is also seemingly ready to introduce an interesting device for consumers.

Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation noted that brands like OPPO, Vivo, and Honor are now planning to release a special “Pro Max” smartphone in the market.

Pro Max is becoming a new trend-setter phone in the market. Instead of Ultra, tech giants are now eagerly working on the special variant to keep pace with the buzz.

Apple is ahead in this race as it has been launching its Pro Max model for a long while. iPhone 11 Pro Max was the one and only device to begin the “Pro Max” lineup in the Apple family, and the company has continued this variant ever since.

Things took a sudden change last year when Xiaomi introduced the 17 series, skipping a whole generation to catch up to the Apple iPhone 17 top-end lineup.

Xiaomi made this step as the iPhone 17 series was garnering traction in the market for its impressive design and unbeatable camera tech (Check how the iPhone 17 Pro Max defeated Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in the imaging segment HERE).

Interestingly, Xiaomi not only copied the generation, but also the name and the camera bump look from Apple’s flagship. Later, Huawei joined the pool with its first-ever Pro Max model – the Mate 80 Pro Max.

Despite a tight supply, the Mate 80 Pro Max become a new focal point for consumers. This could be a reason why more brands want to take up this challenge.

For now, Honor is busy with the launch preparations of the Magic 8 Pro Air and the RSR Porsche Design. Though we may hear about this new Honor Pro Max handset in the coming days!
