Huawei has started using a flat screen with the BT.2020+ color gamut for its flagship phones, and it looks like Honor is ready to follow suit. A new piece of information suggests that the Magic device maker is testing an iconic display technology.
DigitalChatStation revealed that Honor is planning to adopt a flat screen panel for its upcoming phones alongside the trending BT.2020+ color gamut technology.
BT.2020+ is an Ultra HD color standard with a vast color space that allows phones to display significantly richer, more vibrant, and realistic colors than older standards like DCI-P3 color gamut. It’s perfect for high-quality HDR content.
Huawei has used this color gamut for the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design smartphones. Now it looks like Honor is also planning to feature this gamut in its devices.
Apart from the new display tech, Honor is also looking forward to built-in privacy for the top-end smartphones. We may see this implementation in the next-gen Magic handsets.
What’s this new privacy tech? The tipster has only mentioned that don’t confuse this technology with a screen protector. It’s a built-in method. The details are unclear, but it might arrive as the in-display 3D face recognition.

The tipster also pointed out that the company has tried to reshape screen technology for its recently launched devices. And all these techs seem to be quite innovative.
Eventually, it hints that Honor is working on the adoption of flat displays for its devices. Following the leak, some netizens asked why the Magic 8 series wasn’t a part of this adoption, as Huawei has been doing it for so long!
In response, the tipster ironically said that brands switched to a flat display panel without notifying me. For now, the 6.9-inch OLED is still the largest open screen panel. Perhaps Huawei may break this boundary with the Mate 80 GTS.
