Huawei and Apple both use 3D Face Recognition technology in their top-tier phone products, and these brands are now planning to take this tech feature to new heights in the form of an in-display camera solution. But, the question is – who will be the first brand to come up with such a creation and when?
Both Apple and Huawei were in the news for becoming the first brands to offer an in-display camera phone in the market. The Chinese OEM was even rumored to launch the specific feature with the Mate 80 handsets by the end of 2025.
Later, a tipster stated that while Huawei could bring the under-screen camera setup earlier than the iPhone maker, it may not be possible with the Mate 80 smartphones.
In the current landscape, Apple is gaining traction in the market to unveil the 20th Anniversary iPhone model next year with a 1.1mm frame and a quad-curved look.
The highlight of this appearance is the four-sided curved screen that can be a big reason for the iPhone maker to switch to in-display cameras, replacing any type of cutouts, notches, and physical keys with a uniform slab of screen glass.

Apple iPhone 20 is coming next year. And certain reports suggest that even though Huawei didn’t unveil any under-screen 3D Face Recognition in 2025, it will do so this year with the Mate 90 smartphones.
Going with the Mate 80 series advancements, it seems Huawei will likely introduce the in-display 3D Face Recognition technology this year – way before Apple!
Neither Huawei nor Apple has commented on these constantly flying rumors to date. Apart from these two brands, Honor has also emerged in the leaks for using such technology in the future. But for the moment, its remains a mystery as to which brand will be the first to bring an in-display camera phone.
