SIA – Semiconductor Industry Association revealed that the global chip sales have hit 2x growth in April 2026. It has almost doubled compared to the same period last year and has jumped to 110.5 billion year-on-year, up from 93.0% billion.
Following the strong demand for AI worldwide, global chip sales doubled in April 2026. According to the report, the respective segment has scored over $100 billion in a single month for the first time.
The SIA report (via) has further mentioned that the global chip shipments increased by 11% from March and are a massive 93.9% higher than in April last year.
- April 2025: $56.9 billion
- March 2026: $99.5 billion
- April 2026: $110.5 billion
April is the 14th consecutive month when the global semiconductor sector has scored success in sales. And this year’s progress is even bigger than anticipated earlier.
In the current scenario, SIA analysts have estimated that the chip sales in the global market will exceed $1.5 trillion by the end of this year. And a major reason is AI.
Due to the peak demand for AI in the market, companies have started paying higher prices for advanced chips like HBM (High-Bandwidth Memory) and others. Instead of selling “more chips”, the firms are focusing on selling the expensive ones.
As a result, the chip sales gained momentum this year. In April particularly, the semiconductor shipment grew by 115.8% in America, 54.7% in Europe, 78.6% in China, 114.9% in the Asia-Pacific region, and 15.6% in Japan, compared to last year.
