Honor has announced to soon bring the “bypass charging” feature to older flagship phones. The useful capability is already available to many top-end Magic and digital series models. But the company now aims to push it to more compatible handsets.
Feng, the Gaming R&D Engineer of Honor Devices, shared a new post on Weibo, revealing the Bypass Charging feature for old phones. The company will start pushing it to the Magic 6 series and Honor 400 models in the upcoming days.
The executive said the Magic 6 and Honor 400 series smartphones will receive the useful feature either by the end of next month or at the start of January 2026.
Bypass charging or the Charge Separation feature is designed to allow the phone to draw power directly from the charger to run the device, without engaging the battery’s charging cycle. It extracts power directly from the wall adapter.
As a result, it minimizes the number of charge and discharge cycles as well as reduces heat generation that often leads to battery degradation in a very short span.
The Bypass Charging feature is also a prominent tool to enhance intensive tasks like gaming or watching videos, even when the smartphone is plugged into the charger.
Honor already offers a feature like Smart Charge that detects your charging habits and responds accordingly. It prevents the battery from staying at 100% for a long period, helping to slow down the battery aging.
Describing the rollout scenario, Feng said in his Weibo post:
“Many users have been asking about the bypass charging feature, so here’s an update on the progress:
The Magic 6 series and 400 series will be rolled out to everyone soon, either by the end of December or the beginning of January.”
The company will roll out the feature via the MagicOS 10.0 upgrade. Hence, keep your device up-to-date to grab new changes on time.
