After Huawei, Honor is trying to adapt to “flat screens” with the Magic 9 series flagship. Although the new smartphone lineup could witness a huge change in terms of display size. One of these could be smaller, while the other can be bigger than ever!
Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation revealed that the Honor Magic 9 series is testing two new “flat screens.”One is, of course, for the standard and the other belongs to Pro.
The tipster adds that the entire series will use a 2.5D flat screen with a big right-angle frame. This implementation hints at a slimmer and sleeker design profile.
In the past few years, Huawei has appeared as the only brand to increase flat screen orders, potentially for its smartphones, moving away from the curved displays. Xiaomi followed with an Ultra model, saying goodbye to curvy display panels.
Now, Honor seems to be the new joinee in this segment with the Magic 9 series. The company can launch its upcoming flagships with a flat screen. But the biggest twist lies in the screen size of these devices.
Screen Size: Smaller and Bigger!
According to the tipster, Honor is testing a 6.36-inch and a 6.85-inch flat screen panel. The smaller one is probably for the standard variant, while the bigger one can be used for the Pro models. The tipster also mentioned a “Pro Max” device.
In case the name creates confusion about whether it’s an Honor or Huawei flagship, the tipster noted in the comment section that the 6.36-inch screen device is currently testing the iterative Snapdragon 8 chip. So yes, it’s an Honor phone series!
For comparison, the standard Magic 8 equips a 6.58-inch OLED, whereas the Magic 8 Pro uses a 6.71-inch display. Although the upcoming flagships can introduce a more prominent screen upgrade, making the base variant compact and the Pro model a more premium smartphone.
Note that Honor is still testing these screens and could alter these parts as per requirements. There’s a lot of time in the Magic 9 series launch. Till then, we may hit more certain details about this lineup.
