Huawei today announced Eliud Kipchoge as the global brand ambassador for the Watch GT Runner series. The company has shared a video of the professional runner on its Chinese social media account, wishing a happy new year to its users.
Eliud Kipchoge is the world’s greatest marathoner. He belongs to Kenya and has won all the marathons between 2014 and 2019, making a world record in running.
The running champion has recently joined hands with Huawei to make a special “Runner Watch” and in the latest edition, the company declared him as the global brand ambassador of the upcoming wearable device.
Making certain things official, Huawei shared a new post on Weibo with a big caption and a video clip, where Eliud wishes his Chinese friends a very Happy New Year.
Huawei said:
“Pick up! Running God’s blessing supplies have been delivered! Huawei Watch joins hands with Runner @Kichoge_EliudKipchoge, I wish you good luck in the Year of the Horse ∼#Huawei WATCH#”
Looking into the video, the words read “HUAWEI WATCH GT RUNNER Global spokesperson”. Perhaps, the company is officially confirming the revival of the sports smartwatch that it had ended years ago due to a lack of a large user base.
Huawei hasn’t directly shed light on the upcoming Runner wearable. But the current moves in this direction suggest that the company has made big changes to its new product.
Apart from the brand ambassador announcement, the company has also confirmed the launch timeline of the new smartwatch. It will debut in the global market on February 26th, coming later to the Chinese market.
Till then, we may find some more interesting details about this ultimate creation.
