Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max has appeared in the Spring Festival Gala 2026 live stream, and while describing the prime characteristics, the CTO of the company – Li Xiaolong explained the camera performance of the 2025 flagship smartphone.
Li initially detailed the story behind Huawei and CCTV’s collaboration for the 2026 Spring Festival Gala. He said that the company’s top engineers and CCTV’s technical team have spent more than a month preparing for the new year event.
The chief added that they have conducted over 48 hours of uninterrupted stress testing on nearly 30 smartphones. Although the Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max camera performance has been unbeatable in this testing phase.
Mate 80 Pro Max comes with excellent camera features. Starting with the multispectral lens, its deep tuning with ISP helped Huawei and the CCTV team to achieve impressive color performance compared to the broadcast cameras.
Besides, the main camera helped in amazing brightness reproduction. In addition, the teams have quickly developed a special solution, integrated it into the mobile HDR, and further linked it with the broadcast system’s HDR part to resolve the brightness consistency issues.

Li further mentioned that both teams significantly optimized the phone’s performance across multiple dimensions like frame rate, latency, and heat dissipation to ensure consistent and smooth videos throughout the 8-hour pre-broadcast preparation and actual live broadcast. This includes:
- Enhanced HarmonyOS resource utilization capabilities
- Stable output frame rate of 50FPS
- Optimized shooting and transmission links
- Latency reduction to 100ms (from 1200ms) between the phone signal and the professional camera.
The teams have added some external tools like a physical heat dissipation module, to reduce power consumption and ensure further stability. Li stated:
“This practice not only verified the enormous potential of China-made phones in professional fields but also offered a replicable and scalable mobile shooting + transmission solution for vertical screen live streaming of future large-scale events. We can say that every live stream started using the Mate 80 Pro Max will backed by technical strength.”
