Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design is the first and only smartphone in the Huawei family to debut with a dual-eSIM feature. The addition might have raised questions among consumers on how it works and if it is really useful over the physical SIM.
Well, Huawei has answered all these queries and revealed how the eSIM feature of the Mate 80 RS Ultimate is quite useful. Let’s check these uses one by one in detail.
Huawei says that eSIM is the evolution of the physical SIM card that allows users to activate a mobile network. It offers the same phone services as a physical SIM.
For instance, users can enjoy voice calls, SMS, data access, and some other communication-related features. One can even activate international roaming and other services as per their requirement. Compared to normal SIM cards:
“eSIM allows users to add two more numbers on top of their existing dual physical SIM card slots, without being limited by the physical SIM card slot.”
China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom operators provide full eSIM services. A few eSIM phone services are currently in the trial stage. Users can visit an authorized service center to apply for it in person. Note that you should have:
- eSIM-enabled smartphone
- ID to the designated service center
One can use the following eSIM services supported by operators:
- Opening a new eSIM Number Account
- Converting physical SIM cards to eSIM
- Migrate your eSIM to your new phone
- eSIM to physical SIM card
You can enable the eSIM on a phone by heading to Settings > Mobile Network > SIM Card Management > Scan to Add eSIM. Now scan the QR code and tap on “Add this card”. You can opt for other operations by tapping on the eSIM More or eSIM Advanced Settings.
