Counterpoint has released a new report, ranking the top 10 best-selling handsets with 6000mAh batteries, and a significant Huawei phone made its way to this list. In addition, the analysis reveals how these devices contributed to the global smartphone sales this year.
In 2025, many brands launched their smartphones with bigger batteries, breaking the dominance of 5000mAh graphite cell packs. Honor began the trend, and other tech manufacturers like Huawei, Xiaomi, and others followed suit.
According to the latest report, the average global smartphone battery pack has reached 5291mAh capacity in January 2026. It’s an increase of nearly 400mAh YoY – the biggest year-over-year hike since December 2021.
Thanks to the new silicon-carbon batteries that broke the boundaries for phone makers. Instead of sticking to the outdated solutions, many brands switched to silicon-carbon anodes (advanced lithium-ion cells), offering higher energy density.
Further, the report has listed the top 10 best-selling 6000mAh devices in January 2026, where the Huawei Nova 15 phone has ranked tenth. The first spot goes to the Redmi 15C 4G with a sales share of 3.6%.
Honor X70 5G showed up in the second rank. It was the first smartphone in the industry last year to feature an 8300mAh battery pack at a budget-friendly price.
The Huawei Nova 15 5G phone appeared at the tenth spot. It also has a big 6000mAh battery, which is a significant upgrade over its predecessor with a 5500mAh cell.

Nova 15 uses a Lithium-Polymer technology that promises to offer higher energy density, longer lasting, and reduced shutdown voltage for better capacity release.
It is worth noticing that six out of ten smartphones are currently exclusive to China. These handsets are primarily underscoring both the region’s rapid advances in battery technology and the brand strategy to introduce higher-capacity cell packs in their home market first. But some of them might debut globally soon.
Other devices are significantly contributing to the global smartphone sales and increasing the market performance by 29% in January 2026. It’s a sharp jump from just 10% in last year, same period.
Currently, Xiaomi, Honor, OPPO, and Vivo are leading in this segment with higher adoption of silicon-carbon batteries. Though other brands will join this pool in the near future.
