Huawei Pura 90 Ultra rumors signal a significant evolution in the camera branch, and one of these is related to the zoom sensors. The company appears to be using three types of telephoto lenses for its upcoming flagship, offering customers more choices.
Weibo tipster DigitalChatStation has now brought us new information on the Huawei Pura 90 Ultra phone, specifically for the zoom camera sensors this time.
The tipster has recently touched and explored the engineering machine of the Pura 90 series. Among them, the Ultra model is seemingly using a big 200MP 1/1.28-inch periscope telephoto lens.
Pura 90 Ultra has been making a buzz for a new zoom camera technology to take macro-photography to new heights. It is also rumored to be the world’s first smartphone to feature dual 200MP cameras, one as a main lens and the other as a periscope.
Further, the tipster stated that Huawei has three Zoom camera plans for its Pura 90 Ultra. Interestingly, the company could use any of these lenses for the high-end model:
- Multiplexed previous-generation 50MP 1/1.28-inch multi-focal
- 200MP 1/1.28-inch single focal length
- Most radical 200MP 1/1.28-inch multi-focal segment

While these three sensors have a similar size format, they vary in terms of functioning and performance. The former belongs to an advanced camera setup with high-quality images and versatile zooming capabilities. Though the company might have used it already in the Pura 80 or Mate 80 Pro Max phones.
The second one seems to be a high-resolution smartphone camera sensor with a large lens for great detail in images. Although this also has a fixed lens, providing a standard wide-angle perspective without optical zoom.
Lastly, the most radical 200MP multi-focal lens is capable of enabling extreme lossless zooming traits. It offers superior performance at 3x, 6x, and up to 15x optical zoom. Unlike the fixed sensor, it can operate among different focal lengths efficiently.
Neither Huawei nor the tipster has confirmed any of these zoom cameras for the Pura 90 Ultra yet. Hence, we have to wait for more revelations on this subject.
But based on the company’s strategies, there is a chance that Huawei will adopt the last option for the Pura 90 Ultra, while using the second sensor for the Pro+, and the first one for Pro and the vanilla version.
