DigitalChatStation revealed that a top smartphone brand is working on a new flagship lineup with high-end screen technology. While the leak does not disclose the company, terms like “dual-layer OLED” and “BT.2020” hint at a big name!
Yes, it’s Huawei, and the new screen technology could be for the Mate 90 smartphones.
The tipster suggests that the Huawei Mate 90 series could be the first phone lineup in the market to feature the second-generation dual-layer OLED + BT.2020 display technology.
Earlier, the same tipster mentioned that Huawei will be the only phone brand in 2026 to use dual-layer OLED screens for its top-end creations. In the meantime, other tech vendors will continue to improve their display panels for devices.
Now the new report hints that Huawei will upgrade the dual-layer OLED + BT.2020 color gamut technology for this year’s Mate models. It may also use certain customized display components to enhance the overall viewing experience for users.
Dual-layer OLED optimizes the visibility of HDR content, consuming less power. It has anti-glare and anti-interference properties that ensure peak brightness even in sunlight.
Meanwhile, BT.2020 is a future-focused, ultra-wide color standard for UHD/HDR video. It’s larger than traditional color gamut standards like DCI-P3, which allows phones to display much richer and more realistic + true colors of visuals on the screen.
According to the leak, Huawei will be using a China-made screen tech with native parts and capabilities. In addition, it could bring a breakthrough in the display technology with the Mate 90 smartphones in the second half of this year.
One can expect changes in terms of display life, screen durability, power consumption, brightness, color gamut, and more. The tipster didn’t reveal any other details on this matter yet. Though more revelations will open up in the time ahead.
