Huawei Mate series phones no longer hiding the Kirin chip info

Huawei has broken its year-old trend of keeping the details of the Kirin chip a secret with the new Mate series phones. Even though the company didn’t officially announce the latest Kirin versions, it has listed them on the Mate 80 product page.

After 5 years of complete silence on the Kirin 5G chip, Huawei has shown its new processors on the official website with the 2025 Mate phones. It has also described the performance boost the current chips bring to the flagship lineup.

Due to the US sanctions that hit the company in 2019, Huawei went through many chip tech struggles. But it took a stand in 2023 and reignited Kirin 5G power with the Mate 60 Pro.

Although the tech giant didn’t reveal or mention the chip name alongside the specs of its flagship devices. The reason behind this move was the US investigation.

Things changed this year when Huawei launched the Mate XTs tri-foldable smartphone and introduced the Kirin 9020 chip on stage. It hasn’t revealed the CPU configuration but announced specific details like performance improvements.

On November 25, Mate 80 went official without announcing Kirin chips. But the company listed the chipsets and their enhancements on the Mate 80 web page.
