Huawei showcased several solutions and high-end tech products at the MWC 2026 stage, but the company’s smartphone satellite technology has caught the attention of GSMA and won an award for the best “non-terrestrial network solution”.
GSMA Global Mobile (GLOMO) has recently announced some of the best creations of 2025, where Huawei has received eight awards for its iconic technological products.
Among them is Huawei phones’ satellite technology that won an award for being the best non-terrestrial network solution in China. And it really deserves it!
Huawei is the first brand to introduce satellite communication in the smartphone industry. The company joined hands with China Telecom Satellite Corporation to launch the first smartphone direct connection tech to the Tiantong satellite – the Mate 60 Pro.
Besides, the company continued to overcome the challenges of ordinary phones being unable to connect to a satellite. With constant efforts, the tech giant now has 40 phones and 7 in-vehicle systems that support the satellite connectivity features.
The OEM further aims to expand this service from mainland China and Hong Kong to multiple countries worldwide. However, the time it will take is uncertain.
At present, Huawei is working to enhance smartphone satellite features to a greater extent. And we might see these enhancements with the Mate 90 series launching later this year.
Coming to the achievements, most awards for Huawei are related to smartphone tech solutions. From the network to health and well-being innovation, Huawei won in many areas. These are:
- Best Mobile Network Infrastructure
- Best AI-Enabled Network Solution
- Best Non-Terrestrial Network Solution
- Best Mobile Internet Consumer Operator Service
- Best Mobile Internet Health and Well-being Innovation
- Best Fintech and Digital Commerce Innovation
- Best Mobile Accessibility and Inclusive Application
- Best Mobile Innovation to Improve the Lives of Children and Adolescents
