Mate series has a unique technology not found in other Huawei phones – 3D Face Recognition, but it seems Pura 90 could enter this corner, breaking the monopoly. A leak says 2026 Pura models may debut with three-dimensional facial recognition.
According to FixedFocus, Huawei Pura 90 smartphones could feature 3D Face Recognition. He said there is a probability of seeing the tech with the 2026 Pura lineup.
P/Pura series has been an attractive flagship series in the Huawei world. Instead of featuring surprising technologies, the lineup focused on the camera enhancements and better software capabilities.
Though in recent years, many users suggested that Pura phones should get the 3D Face Recognition upgrade. While the 80 series was in rumors to bring this tech on board, it continued the same single punch hole look.
Since Huawei has made 3D Face Verification tech standard on all Mate handsets (including the vanilla version), there is a chance that we may see this technology with the Pura 80 models as well, at least in the high-end variants.
A previous leak suggested that Huawei is testing a new unlocking method for the Pura 90 series phones. While it was unclear what kind of tech it is, the latest input hints that the company is working to bring facial recognition to Pura models.
3D Face Recognition debuted with the Mate 20 models in the Huawei family, and till then, it has been a significant part of the Mate phones. But the company didn’t use it for Nova or other top-end handsets to date.
Perhaps things may change with the Pura 90 smartphones next year. This particular piece of information is still in doubt sphere. Hence, we have to wait for some official words or more revelations on this matter.
