Leak and rumors about the Huawei Pura 90 series are constantly popping up online, and the latest one reveals the upcoming quad’s multispectral camera. It suggests that the top flagship lineup will feature an upgraded imaging color sensor this time.
Tipster SmartPikachu shared a new leak on Weibo that the Huawei Pura 90 series could use a new multispectral camera. If true, this will be a big gain for the lineup.
While the Pura 80 series continued the same multispectral camera as the Huawei Mate 70 phones, the 2026 models can introduce a better upgrade in this segment.
The latest leak aligns with an earlier rumor that suggested Huawei could launch a new multispectral camera (Red Maple 3.0) with the Pura 90 smartphones.
Besides, the tipster mentioned that the company will improve highlights and shadows in the imaging part with the new camera features for the first flagship of 2026.

Multispectral camera gives additional and notable camera benefits to top-end Huawei phones. It unlocks advancements in color accuracy, moving beyond traditional RGB sensors by measuring light in multiple distinct spectral bands.
Huawei began the “color accuracy in images” story in 2024 with the Mate 70 series. It used the same multispectral lens for Mate 70, Pura 90, and Nova 14 devices.
The Mate 80 series took this multispectral subject to the next level by adding interesting video capabilities and more enhanced color reproduction theory to it.
It looks like Huawei has bigger plans this year for its smartphones in the imaging department. And we may see a few glimpses of these plans with the Pura 90.
Apart from these phones, the Pura X2 foldable is in the news for getting a more improved multispectral camera. Rumors also suggest a 200MP lens for the device. Though how far these inputs are correct will be known later this year.
