Huawei Pura 90 making advanced choices for main and zoom camera

Pura 90 series is in the development phase and Huawei is exploring some advanced choices for its camera sensors, particularly regarding the main and zoom lenses. In the current scenario, we’ve got some new insights related to these specs. Let’s check:

Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation revealed that one of the top 5 Chinese phone makers is working on its first 2026 flagship lineup with advanced imaging technologies.

Based on the speculations in the comments section, this manufacturer is Huawei, and it is looking for cutting-edge main and zoom camera sensors for the Pura 90.

Standard Pura 90: Camera Specs

According to the leak, the standard Huawei Pura 90 will use a 50MP main snapper with a 1/1.28-inch size format and upgraded variable aperture technology.

Variable technology has always been a Huawei thing, and the company has used it very effectively. It will surely enhance the respective tech for the upcoming Pura smartphones, increasing the amount of light intake and image/video quality.

On the other hand, Huawei is planning to upgrade the periscope lens with a new 50MP camera. Although the details of this sensor are currently out of the frame. Multispectral sensor will be a part of this imaging setup for all Pura 90 models.

Huawei has launched the second-generation multispectral sensor with the Mate 80 smartphones. It will likely use the same lens for the upcoming Pura 90 series, enhancing the color accuracy to a greater extent over the previous-generation phones.

A special main camera for Pura 90 Pro+/Ultra

The tipster further mentioned that Huawei is testing a 1-inch super main camera for the high-end versions of the Pura 90 lineup. These versions refer to the Pro+ and Ultra model that brings extraordinary features over the vanilla and Pro variants.

Even though the tipster didn’t detail this particular camera, this could be a 200MP sensor. As per early inputs, Huawei is testing two types of main sensors: one from OmniVision and the other from its native supplier, SmartSens.

Now all we have to see is if this mysterious primary shooter of the Pura 90 Pro+ or the Ultra models can outperform other camera flagships in the market.
