After the launch of the Mate 80 series, all eyes are set on the launch of the Pura 90 Ultra, the top-of-the-line flagship, and it’s once again rumored to feature a 200MP telephoto camera.
It’s now reported that a Chinese company is working on a powerful camera imaging system, better than last year, bringing a higher-quality experience to users. The core specs include a 200MP telephoto lens and a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch sensor and variable aperture.
The device name remained unknown, but there’s one feature, which is popularized by only one company – Huawei. It’s the only company in the world that continues to utilize the variable aperture technology in smartphones; the leaked phone specs are likely to belong to the Chinese tech giant’s Pura 90 Ultra.
The company is currently testing the 200MP telephoto lens, sensor inside the camera module is around 1/1.28 inches. It is talking with two companies – OmniVision and SmartSens for OV52A and SCC80XS, respectively.
Among these, the SCC80XS stands as the fresh option, and uses a 22nm stacked process with advantages such as power efficiency, noise control, which could be reduced by as much as 50%. It also has a high dynamic range, making it a viable contender for such an extended focal length.

However, only the test result will decide which one of these sensors will make it up to the production device. What makes this new product interesting is that the Pura 80 introduced a dual telephoto lens technology with innovative technology for seamless zoom transition from 3.7x and 9.4x optical range.
Adding a 200MP sensor to the setup will improve the resolution and provide better quality retention in zoomed shots. On the other hand, the Pura 90 Ultra will use a 1-inch main camera sensor; the larger size will provide brighter image output, improving both day and nighttime photo and videography.
