Pura X Max has recently hit the market shelves, showing strong demand and in the meantime, we just got the first teardown video of this flagship Huawei foldable. While everything seemed fine from the exterior view, the internal has some odds!
iFixit on YouTube has performed a teardown of the Huawei Pura X Max. The video caption reads – “This foldable looks like the Future… Until You Repair It!” The video highlighted all components of the foldable, including the Kirin 9030 Pro chip.
The YouTuber took a look at the newly released foldable, calling it a passport-style device that delivers a more natural viewing experience and mimics a mini tablet design.
Besides the form factor, the main camera of the Pura X Max with a variable aperture technology caught the YouTuber’s attention. It’s something that has been missing in many flagship phones, including Samsung Galaxy since the S9 series launch.
Teardown
As per iFixit, some things have improved. While opening one side of the new device appeared easier, the other side (front screen) seemed glued significantly more strongly.
Following the removal of the outer screen, the tester started dismantling the components of the foldable. Starting with the battery, it appeared to be buried carefully and firmly inside the device, which makes safe repairs and recycling more difficult.

USB-C Port is easily accessible. The company has used dual battery packs with a total of 19.73Wh of energy – 14% more energy than the batteries in the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Moving towards the camera, the YouTuber removed all sensors one by one. Yet the primary lens appeared buried under the motherboard and required a little extra effort.

The mainboard showed the Kirin 9030 Pro SoC with a sizable footprint. It is roughly comparable to a 5nm node and offers significant performance over the 7nm chips.
Coming on the screen, the YouTuber sliced the inner screen from the chassis to bring it out. To his surprise, the display panel survived his clumsy attempts at removal.

The hinge was sealed from exterior particles + the spine of the screen was also protected with pores dotted through it and filled with a flexible adhesive. It not only protects the moving part of the hinge but also the inner screen.
According to the YouTuber, the overall device is good enough, though it could face difficulty with repair and maintenance services, as the screws missed proper concealing, and the battery replacement process is where the foldable device failed.
