Huawei has scheduled the Pura 90 series launch for late April and at the same time, it will unveil the ultimate Pura X Max foldable with an iconic form factor over the previous-generation model. The device will likely debut as the first horizontally wide folding smartphone in the consumer market.
DigitalChatStation has recently revealed that the Huawei Pura X Max will have a very interesting form factor compared to the first wide foldable. He didn’t throw light on the design details but suggested noteworthy shifts.
In addition, the tipster mentioned that the Huawei Pura X Max will step into the launch stage as the industry’s first-ever horizontally wide-folding smartphone.
Early leaks have shared some clues on what kind of design changes the second-generation Pura foldable could bring to stand firm against Apple’s first iPhone Fold.

The leak further sheds light on the display parameters of the upcoming wide-screen foldable. Pura X Max may feature a 7.69-inch large internal screen with WQHD+ technology. Meanwhile, the cover screen will likely measure 5.5 inches.

WQHD+ refers to a Wide Quad High Definition Plus screen technology. It is a high-resolution display standard with a typical resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels. It can offer 4 times the resolution of standard HD and higher pixel density, leading to sharper, more detailed, and immersive visuals.
For comparison, the Huawei Pura X has a 6.3-inch LTPO 2.0 OLED main screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 1320 x 2120 pixels resolution. When folded, the wide foldable shows a 3.5-inch OLED cover display with a peak brightness of 2500 nits.
Apart from screen and looks, Huawei Pura X Max can impress customers in terms of battery capacity and chipset performance. Though for now, the exact specs are still behind the mist, and we have to wait till April 20 to find accurate details.
