All-new Huawei AI-powered Eyewear will likely debut alongside the Pura 90 series flagship on April 20, and this time the company has enlisted a Chinese manufacturer rather than a global one to produce its next-generation smart glasses.
The new move indicates that Huawei is promoting its self-reliant characteristics. It not only aims for US-free tech solutions but also helps native firms to contribute to China’s growth.
A report suggested that Huawei has joined hands with Goertek, a leading Chinese manufacturer, to make its AI Eyewear. The new producer is supposed to deliver better components and enhance the overall device-making procedure.
Following the report, a representative said:
“We have confidentiality agreements with our clients, and we cannot disclose their names.”
Goertek is one of the famous Chinese technology companies that designs and manufactures consumer electronics, acoustics, sensors, and optical components.
It is a major player in the field of Virtual Reality (VR), TWS earphones, and wearables. Besides, it is a key supplier for several global technological brands.
Earlier, Huawei partnered with a South Korean eyewear brand, Gentle Monster, to produce its smart glasses. The first and second-generation Eyewear devices were jointly manufactured by Huawei and Gentle Monster, focusing on trendy designs with AI voice capabilities.
The partnership ended in late 2020, and since then, no new models have been co-branded together. For years, Huawei didn’t collaborate with any other company for the production of its eyewear and continued as a single producer.
Although the reported partnership between Huawei and Goertek hints at better capabilities and a whole new level of experience for the eyewear consumers.
What new changes the next generation AI-powered Eyewear will bring to the tablet is unclear at present. Huawei has started teasing its new devices and perhaps, we don’t have to wait for much to gain details on this topic.
