Huawei has reclaimed the top position in the Chinese smartphone market for 2025 due to its innovative creations, but the real credit goes to the 5G chips that made its return in 2023 and continued since then, delivering a powerful performance.
Many international reports noticed that Huawei made its way back to the first spot in the Chinese smartphone market last year. Of course, the ultimate camera features, revamped designs, and improved software have made this win possible.
The company began 2025 with the dazzling Pura 80 smartphones, which maintained the signature look but uplifted the way consumers used to take macro shots!
Switchable dual-telephoto cameras in the Pura 80 Ultra made every other brand look and appreciate Huawei’s creation. Even though it didn’t use any 200MP sensor, unlike other phone vendors, the zoom lens tech kept it in a positive buzz.
A similar situation was with the Mate 80 series that drew attention in the market for its iconic camera sensors and overwhelming internal specs, hitting 2 million unit shipments within a month of its official release.
But we cannot deny the fact that the official introduction of Kirin 5G chips during the Mate XTs tri-foldable launch added a new glory and progress to Huawei smartphone sales in the consumer market.
While the company didn’t detail its chipset for the first time, it opened up slightly at the Mate 80 series conference, launching two new versions: the Kirin 9030 and 9030 Pro!
During this ultimate intro of the Kirin 9030 and Pro processors for Mate 80 phones, Huawei revealed that these chips offer a 42-45% of improved performance over the previous-generation versions, taking the chip hype to a greater extent.
The company is now aiming for better chip advancements in 2026. It is looking for new native technologies that can help it achieve 3nm or even 2nm chip process technology this year for the upcoming flagships.
Hence, the constant efforts of Huawei show that slowly and steadily, it can get back to its original position in the smartphone market, as it was 5-6 years ago!
