Huawei is preparing to launch its Pura 90 series in the first half of 2026 with a robust chip upgrade. The new Kirin processors for the upcoming top flagship phones will bring a significant performance boost over the previous-generation Pura models.
The Chinese firm officially introduced two powerful chips with the Mate 80 smartphones: Kirin 9030 and Kirin 9030 Pro. Both bring around 40% of sharp jump in the devices’ performance compared to their predecessors.
No doubt, Huawei will use the same chip upgrade for the Pura 90 series. A new leak suggests that the company will equip these Kirin processors for 2026 Pura phones.
SuperDimensional noted that the Pura 90 vanilla version will feature the Kirin 9020 chipset, just like the Mate 80 phone. Whereas the Pro models (Pura 90 Pro and Pro+) will debut with the standard Kirin 9030 5G chip.
Pura 90 Ultra will likely use the Kirin 9030 Pro chipsets. For comparison, the standard Pura 80 has a 9010S processor, while the high-end phones run on Kirin 9020.
Huawei used a new chipset for the Pura 80 base model last year, which was superior to its predecessor but inferior to other siblings. It may adopt a similar strategy this year as well by launching an S or E-tagged Kirin chip version.
Coming to new chips, Kirin 9030 and its Pro version differ slightly from each other in core architecture but have identical performance experience.
- Kirin 9030: 2 large cores @ 2.75GHz + 4 medium cores @ 1.72GHz + 6 small cores @ 2.27GHz
- Kirin 9030 Pro: 2 large cores @ 2.75GHz + 4 medium cores @ 1.72GHz + 8 small cores @ 2.27GHz

Apart from the chipset, the tipster mentioned the screen and camera info, which are similar to the previous leaks. The new addition seems to be a 3D face recognition technology that may show up on all Pura 90 faces.
