Huawei is making efforts to enhance its AI chip technology in the Chinese market day by day and it seems this hard work could pay off in 2026. A new report highlights that the company will likely own a big share in this segment by next year.
Bernstein Research, a widely recognized global equity research firm, revealed that Huawei will account for about a 50% share in the Chinese AI chip market by 2026.
It has even shared a giant pie chart, explaining the share of each AI chipset brand in the Chinese market. The chart includes Nvidia, AMD, Cambricon, MetaX, and more.
The report mentioned that Nvidia owned 39% market share in the Chinese AI chip market this year. Huawei followed the company closely with almost the same share.
Although by 2026, the research company projected that Nvidia’s market share in China would shrink to 8% and the native vendors like Huawei and others would lead to a significant share gain. Besides, it mentioned:
“China will be producing more domestically made AI chips than its own domestic demand by 2028. We expect the rapid acceleration in local AI chip production capacity will allow domestic AI chip sales to grow at 74% CAGR for the next three years.”

By 2028, the supply-demand of the Chinese AI semiconductors could hit the 104% mark, starting with 39% in 2026. Meanwhile, the sales may see a hike of 93% by 2028.
Looking into the pie chart, Huawei will be holding 50% in 2026, whereas the US-based chipmaker will drop to 8% of the market share. AMD will likely rank second in this segment with 12%, and Cambricon could be third in this ranking.
That’s a crazy prediction about Huawei Ascend AI chips and China’s native artificial intelligence semiconductor tech growth. However, the reality will be even more interesting if this prediction turns out to be true next year!
