The Huawei Watch 5 series is now preparing for a major upgrade with the HarmonyOS 6 public beta launch. The Watch 5 has entered this new journey along with the Fit 4 series.
According to the sign-up details, Huawei Watch 5 42mm (SOC-AL00) and 46mm (RTS-AL00), along with the Watch Fit 4 (SYA-B19) and Watch Fit 4 Pro (SYA-B29), are part of this new recruitment. Once signed up, users can download the latest software build, but are advised to back up important data before installing the new software.
Public beta allows unlimited users to sign up for the new software update and test the latest features and capabilities before full release. It also means that the software is about to be released for all users with an OTA update.
Global Huawei Watch 5 series users will also receive this major OS upgrade once it’s fully released in China. However, the company hasn’t announced any specific dates for this rollout, and some of the features may be limited to Chinese users only.
HarmonyOS 6 for smartwatches brings a touch screen light feature for an easy on-screen content viewing experience. Alarm app now supports custom vibration, and users can cover the screen to mute the alarm.
The Watch 5 series can now transfer music files from an iOS device to the watch; this feature is enabled by downloading the latest version of the Huawei Health app. This new HarmonyOS version improves the overall smart collaboration capability to adjust various system settings and audio broadcasting from or to smartphones, tablets, and headphones.
Users can also adjust headphone volume, switch to noise cancellation mode, and check the headphones’ battery life within the smartwatch. Furthermore, users can swipe right during exercise to open the quick settings interface, which supports quick adjustment of exercise reminder sound volume, modification of exercise settings, and more.
