Huawei is apparently preparing something big for satellite communication tech. The company seems to have new plans for its smartphones in 2026 regarding satellite connectivity. And we might first witness this innovation with the Pura 90 phones.
Satellite communication has become a significant part of Huawei phones. Over the years, the company has upgraded the specific technology with impressive functions.
Looks like Huawei is now planning big for satellite communication in 2026. A tipster hinted that the OEM may bring notable changes to this tech around the second quarter.
FixedFocus mentioned a date – Q2 2026 (April to June). He also shared an image that says: Mate X6 is the world’s first mass-produced phone to support tri-network satellite communication with the following features:
- Beidou satellite news + messaging
- Tiantong satellite calling feature
- Low-orbit satellite internet

The image also reads that the company will likely begin the public testing of the low-orbit satellite communication in the second half of 2025.
Going with the timeline, it appears that Huawei is ready to launch low-orbit satellite communication for more devices. Currently, the Mate X6 is the only model to support the particular technology. The OEM may bring it to more phones in Q2 2026.
Satellites that revolve in the low Earth orbit or are much closer to Earth than traditional satellites deliver better cellular-like connectivity, enable D2D (Direct to Device), texting and data in remote areas, improve global coverage, and reduce latency for apps and services.
